My name is Jo Barton, I am the new ALT at
Nobetaka. I moved here from Portland, Oregon, where I have lived for 14 years. Portland, Oregon is a very bike friendly
city and I have been riding my bike
for transportation ever since I moved
there. I am very passionate about
music, I play the bass and have
a pretty great record collection. My
kitty-cat Flannery turns 13 this year; I
am missing her a lot, but she is being
well taken care of by a close friend. I
grew up in a small town in southeastern Nebraska, most of my family
still lives there.

です。アメリカのオレゴン州ポートランド市から引っ
越してきました。ポートランドは自転車に乗るにはと
てもよい都市で、14年前にポートランド
に住み始めた時から自転車に乗っていま
す。私は音楽がとても好きです。ベース
を弾き、レコードのコレクションもなか
なかです。私の猫ちゃんのフラネリーは
今年で13歳になります；フラネリーがい
ないのがで寂しいですが、親友がちゃん
と面倒をみてくれています。私はネブラ
スカ州の南東の小さい町でそだち、家族
のほとんどはまだそこに住んでいます。

in International Studies. I enjoy
painting, rock climbing, and look forward to working with elementary
school students and teachers in

September Newsletter Clarifications
9月号のニュースレターの解明
Last issue, we had photos of the departing
ALTs. We used group photos and would
like to clarify who the departing ALTs were
in the crowd.
先月、延岡を離れたALTの写真をのせま
し た。グ ル ー プ 写 真 を つ か い ま し た の
で、その中で離れたALTはだれなのかを
改めて紹介します。

An International Spring Festival
世界の春をお祝いしよう！
We apologize for the lateness, but we
would like to share some photos from
an event in April. We held a spring
event in the Nobeoka Botanical Gardens, where we celebrated Easter (a
Christian holiday) and Purim (a Jewish
holiday).
Participants painted hollow
eggs and decorated masks.
遅くなりましたが、4月のイベントの
写真をお見せます。延岡植物園で春
のイベントとして、イースター（キ
リスト教のお祝い）とプリム（ユダ
ヤ教のお祝い）を楽しみました。
参加者は空の卵に色をつけたり
お面に飾りを付けました。
During lunch, we served Hamantaschen (Purim cookies)!
お昼にはハマンタッシェン
（プレムのクッキー）を出し
ました！
We also had a piñata,
a paper object filled
with candy, which kids
hit with sticks to release the candy.

In the afternoon, participants hunted for plastic eggs (filled with prizes) hidden in the gardens. (The
