Projection Mapping at Tsuruga-jo Castle
鶴ケ城プロジェクションマッピングを開催します
Come See Tsuruga-Jo Castle Bathed in Beautiful Lights and Visuals
This year, the theme of the projection mapping is Akabeko. The 3rd projection mapping event will be held,
and the theme is based on the “Akabeko Story”. A wondrous and dazzling show of beautiful Aizu Wakamatsu
scenery and cherry blossoms will be colorfully projected onto the walls of Tsuruga-jo’s Castle Tower.

Fun Winter Story Telling
たのしい冬のおはなし会
The Aizu Library will hold a story telling event. Stories will be told through the use of picture books and
picture story shows associated with winter. We invite parents and children to come together and have fun.

First Tea Ceremony Experience
はじめての茶道体験教室
Parents and kids can experience and enjoy the traditional Japanese cultural activity, the tea ceremony.

S a i n o kami
会津歳の神
Sainokami is a traditional event that takes place at the beginning of every
year to pray for good luck and good health. People burn New Year’s ornaments and
offerings to the gods, and then roast mochi (rice cakes) and dried squid on the fire to
eat. Please bring food for offering. (Remove any metal or plastic wrapping.)

Categories for the giant slalom are divided into sections ranging from 1st grade elementary school
students to middle-aged individuals.

Snowball Fight in Kita Aizu
スノーバトル in きたあいづ
In this snowball fight, your group has to attack and take down an opposing team’s targets using 45
snowballs. How about participating in this event with your friends from school, or co-workers?

♦ Location: Hotaru no Mori Koen (Hotaru no Mori Park) located in Shimoarai, Kita Aizu-machi.

Come and Join Us! Events of the Aizu・Yagan Railway
おいでよ!会津鉄道の催し
Winter Special Event: “Tipsy Railway”
How about enjoying a train ride on a passenger car with kotatsu (Japanese heated tables) installed while
drinking Japanese sake? The local sake provided along the railway line is all-you-can-drink. The train will travel
back and forth between Nishi Wakamatsu Station and Aizu Tajima Station.
♦ Date and time: Saturdays: January 17th, and the 24th, February 7th, the 14th, the 21st and 28th , and March 7th.
Meet at Nishi Wakamatsu Station at 5:10pm. The train will run from Nishi Wakamatsu Station at 5:28pm to Aizu
Tajima Station and will then return. *The train returns to Nishi Wakamatsu Station at 7:46pm.

2nd JR Tadami Line “Rambling Rails” Railways Photo Contest
Oku Aizu Revitalization Center is now accepting photos. The theme of the photo contest is the JR
Tadami Line and “Scenery from the Rambling Railways”, from a “slow and rambling” perspective.
Those who place in the competition will be presented a gift.

Aizu Winter Food Festival “Aizu Shoku no Jin”

The January to March food theme is “free-range, local, traditional pedigree chicken” raised in Aizu.
Service and sales of special menu items including meat from native chickens raised in Aizu will be available in 60 restaurants and accommodations in Aizu Wakamatsu City. Residential Tax” for Their Employees (Obligatory Duty of Special

Starting 2015, 13 municipalities in the Aizu area and Fukushima Prefecture Aizu Regional Development
Bureau will designate all business owners (salary payers) who are eligible under laws and regulations as the
“Collector of Individual Residential Tax” for their employees. Those who are designated as such are required to
deduct the individual employee’s residential tax from their wages each month, and pay them to the designated
municipality. An “Advance Notice for Persons under Duty of Special Collection” was sent to eligible business
owners. Please read it.

Those who are turning 70 years old will qualify for National Health Insurance (NHI) benefit certificates for
the elderly, beginning one month after their 70th birthday month (beginning on their birthday month for those
were born on 1st day of the month). The city will send a certificate every month to people who are newly eligible
in the middle of their birthday month. Those who were born on the 1st day of the month will be sent the certifi-

There will be a lottery for the use of gravesites which have come back into the city’s possession. The
location and date of the lottery will be announced upon application.
